Worst thing about this is I bought it because it said it converts to 3600dpi (back then that was one of the highest), but as I mentioned the image reflects only 96dpi. This film and slide scanner captured digital images which were sharpest and most color accurate, earning The Best rating from the Hammacher Schlemmer Institute. But if there's another option that you can view the whole negative image and have a higher dpi output, I'd say definitely buy the other option. So if this is your only option I say definitely buy it as having the photo even in not good quality is better than not having (for people photos, not sure if landscapes or buildings it be worth all the work but to each their own). So I captured a photo with a dog, slid it and hit capture again to have a one with the banner. Ex I had the camera turned so in negative they're as if in portrait mode (vs landscape vies) and have a dog seated at the bottom of the picture (left side on the negative) and a banner over their heads (right side on the negative) and when you capture, you can't capture both. And top it all off, the whole negative image is not captured on the sides. It has a built-in 2.4-inch preview display, USB Interface, 32MB of internal memory and an SD card reader, supporting SD/SDHC cards up to 8GB. And the color is faded in the captures so you'll have to enhance later in a program/app. The VuPoint Solutions FC-C0552-VP Digital Film and Slide Converter scans 35mm slides and negatives into 5MP digital images, at 2592 x 1680dpi.

I lost a lot of my photos so even getting them digitally I'm happy for however having to take all this time to clean, load & scan I'd rather have a better image. It's slow process (I'm fine with that I guess), but the photo from a negative is only 96dpi (saves you space because it's only 1.2M file if you see that as a plus) So there's that, low quality resolution & mind you I have the unit set to scan as 10M instead of the 5M too. I wish I opened & tried this when I actually bought it years ago, because would have returned it for one that can produce higher quality images, just finally using it now (that I have time).
